I Write, I Breathe

I am a writer....a master and protector of words. "Like a knife, words should be handled carefully. They can cut deeply, the wound may never heal, and the scars may remain for an eternity. Or they can be used to make space to plant a seed - where fruition births legacy and feeds generations on hope, goodness, and love of humanity." ~Ey Wade

Ey Wade is genius! Keke Chanel

The first book I read by my next author spotlight blow me away. The way she intertwined her characters and the powerful message it conveyed caught me by a pleasant surprise. I experienced so many emotions reading the book, I didn’t understand why. Not until I realized one of the characters hit too close to home. Life happens. It will be okay. These are the things Ey’s book zapped me with. Since then, I have become a fan. Her writing style is different, different meaning, off the charts! Once you read one, you won’t be able to stop until you read them all. Kickin’ It With KeKe…

Domestic Abuse and Fiction. #reallifehappens The Women of the Hill by Ey Wade #relationships #romance

Check out a scene from The Women of the Hill. It focuses on Tone'ya and her struggle to stay away from her abusive husband.
My mom read this book before she passed away, I will never forget how angry she was at me. http://theinterviewedcharacter.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-women-of-hill-5-friends-one.html
The Women of the Hill is an affair to remember. It is the first book in the series Yes, Sam Takes Care of Me. Sam a jealous provider and protector who simultaneously gives and takes away in this tale of five female friends sharing in the trials and humiliations of having a relationship with the same person.

PHYLLIS PRICE fell in love, bought what she thought would be a family home, became pregnant, her man ran off, she lost her job and now struggles as a single mother. How much different is her situation from the woman living next door? Not very, because each of the five women living at the end of the cul de sac on Hill Lane is entangled in an enslaving humiliating relationship with the same person, Sam. Through the writings of her memoirs Phyllis employs flashbacks and subtle weaving of conversations with her five friends to explain the presence of Sam as the heavy observance of a jealous lover. It takes the death of one of them to severe the ties and conjures up the ‘fairytale’ happy ending.

RAYNE MOORE 18 and the youngest member of the group, is a mother of a son and living with an older man. FRANKIE DUZ, home schools her children baby sits on the side and JENNY NEEDS is a teacher in the public schools and a parent of four children whose husband left her for a cousin. At four o’clock in the evening on a daily basis the women get together at Phyllis’ house to watch Oprah, eat snacks and discuss the events of their day. They call it their ‘Stress Bashin’ Session’. During one of these sessions, she is coaxed into hooking up with Sam. After filling mounds of paper and waiting for hours in his office, she is rejected. Feeling humiliated and unwanted Phyllis returns home and dauntlessly struggles to keep her finances. Just as she is sinking into the red and the job is about to play out, TONE’YA KNOES a physically abused divorced mother of two daughters, attending college in the hope of starting a nursing career is the group’s know-it-all. She explains the slight deceptions that are necessary to become one of Sam’s privileged and pays the ultimate price when it becomes obvious they must separate.

Saving Yourself While Writing #amwriting #amediting #itorturemyself

Have you ever been so deep into your current body or bodies of work and you forget about...  everything, everyone, and yourself?
Me after shopping
The past few weeks have been like that for me. Trying to push the clock, when I am my time keeper, has revealed a real monster. Me.

Unintentionally, I setup a goal that was beyond human endurance and worked myself into a peripherally damaged state of health and literally heard my body say- and my mind shout, "you're gonna die."
Long story short, I wasn't eating well, if I ate at all. Most days it would be 3pm or later before I remembered I hadn't eaten or drunken anything all day. And that's after waking at 3 - 4 in the morning.
Result, I began noticing when I stood to walk, 2 or 3 steps was all I could manage until my heart rate skyrocketed like the beat would burst through the veins at the side of my neck, steal all of my energy, make me feel like vomiting, and the edges of my world dimmed. I literally felt like I was dying.

After a few more days of this, I vowed I would do better and take care of myself, while in the grocery store (for some healthy eats) I began to feel as if I were shutting down. My hearing was diminishing, sight, strength. I had to leave the shopping to my daughter and encourage myself to take the steps to the car. All the time my brain kept saying, you're gonna die. Who am I, an author, not to listen to the voices in her head? I believed myself and decided to fight against it.

Now, I have a loving sister-from-another-mother, who texts me throughout the day to remind me to take care of myself. I've set a timer for every 20 minutes to remind me to drink water and every 3 hours to eat something nutritional.
Best of all, I pulled out the mineral drops, feel energized and ready to live again.
Moral of the story: you are more important than anything you can write.

Whats your story that would have made you the main character in a novel of ill advice?
